NEW MUSIC: J.GILCHRIST - "MY SIN"
J. Gilchrist artist bio: I love expression and always have. When I was a teenager, I loved the bold expression of artists like 2Pac, Cypress Hill, Everlast, and Ice Cube. I started doing my own rap thing as an 18-year-old, promoting the life of drug and alcohol abuse and negativity. The expression of other artists affected my heart. My own explicit expression was a good form of venting the hurt and pain in my heart. Neither form of expression affected me like the powerful expression of love on a cross in Israel. That form of expression changed my heart at age 21 and shapes my music today. My hope is that the bold expression in my lyrics points people to that great display and attracts them to the love expressed there.
Song Bio: “My Sin” deals with the struggle with indwelling sin. Life before Christ and after Christ, for me, has been filled with depression and self-imposed probationary periods due to my sin. It is about the struggle of trying to overcome my own sin or make atonement for it on my own. Verse 3 ends the song with a challenge to me and other believers to heed John Owen’s challenge to “Always be killing sin.”
